Dr Anu Premasuriya

Senior Chiropractor · Wellbeing Chiropractic Springfield

I’m Dr Anu Premasuriya, practice partner and Senior Chiropractor at our Springfield clinic. My belief is straightforward: your body should never be the reason you miss out on the things you love. I hold a Bachelor of Chiropractic Science and a Master of Clinical Chiropractic, work across Diversified, Gonstead, Activator, SOT and Webster technique, and consult in English or Sinhala. Care here starts with an unhurried history and examination, then a plan built around your actual goals, with me walking alongside you the whole way, cheering, nudging and occasionally applying tough love.

Why people book in at Springfield

The hobby that’s quietly disappearing

Golf, gardening, gym, grandkids. When a body stops cooperating, people trim the things they love first and tell nobody. Getting those back is a legitimate reason to book.

The Centenary Highway sandwich

A drive, a desk, a drive. Greater Springfield’s working week loads the same joints in the same way for hours, and eventually they complain in writing.

The family that books one by one

It usually starts with one sore back. Then a partner books, then a teenager with a sports niggle. Families suit my approach, because everyone gets a plan of their own.

No two patients get the same care here, because no two bodies carry the same week. The first visit is about understanding yours: the history, a careful examination, and a conversation about which parts of your week you want back, whether that’s pain-free sleep or a golf handicap. From there the plan is genuinely personal, and if your problem belongs with a GP or imaging before chiropractic care, that’s the first thing you’ll hear from me.

Care with accountability built in

I hold a Bachelor of Chiropractic Science and a Master of Clinical Chiropractic, and I practise as a Senior Chiropractor with the Australian Chiropractors Association behind me. The technique set is broad on purpose: Diversified and Gonstead for precise hands-on work, Activator and SOT where low force suits better, and Webster technique for patients moving through pregnancy.

What I love most about this job is that no two people are the same puzzle. I take real time understanding each person’s body, lifestyle and goals, and then I stay in the journey. Some weeks that means celebrating a win, some weeks it means accountability when the home exercises got skipped, and some weeks it means reminding a patient to be kinder to themselves. All three are part of care.

I consult in English and Sinhala at our Springfield clinic, and watching someone regain the confidence to do what they love, then actually go do it, is the part of this work I’d never give up.

A plan you’ll actually follow

First visits run long enough to do the job properly: your story, a complete physical and movement examination, and my findings explained in normal language. The care plan comes out of your goals, not a template, and I’m upfront about what it asks of you between visits.

Then comes the part I think matters most: follow-through. I check progress against the things you said you wanted back, adjust the plan when your body answers differently than expected, and keep you on track with your half of the work. Lasting results are a partnership, and I hold up both ends enthusiastically.

“Some patients need cheering, some need accountability, and some need permission to go easier on themselves. Knowing which is the skill.”

Questions patients ask

It’s an assessment problem first. Some of it may be joint restriction that responds to care, some may be deconditioning that needs a graded return to movement, and the examination separates the two. Either way you leave with a plan rather than a shrug.

Yes, happily. Sri Lankan families around Springfield often prefer it, and it makes the explanation half of the visit far more useful.

Yes, My training covers the Webster technique, and everything from positioning to pressure adapts to your stage. Where your obstetric team should be involved, I’ll flag it and work alongside them.

With all major health insurance funds, yes. Claims are handled at the desk and when chiropractic is part of your policy the gap settles the bill.

Not at all, direct bookings are the norm. Bring any existing scans or reports along, and if a GP needs to be in the loop, I’ll arrange that with you.
