Dr Diane Pilao

Chiropractor · Wellbeing Chiropractic Castle Hill

I’m Dr Diane Pilao, an AHPRA registered chiropractor at our Castle Hill clinic. My working life started in fitness and massage, and somewhere between programming sessions and easing tired shoulders I found the profession that kept everything I loved: understanding how bodies operate and helping people use theirs well. Macquarie University formalised it, a Bachelor of Human Science then the Master of Chiropractic, with a UTS Graduate Certificate in Health Service Management because good care also needs well-run care. Women’s health holds my special interest, and every first visit is built on listening, thorough examination and an explanation clear enough to act on.

What I see around the Hills District

The M2 in both directions

Castle Hill commutes are long and seated, and the workday between them usually is too. lower backs log every kilometre.

A body doing women’s work

Cycles, pregnancy, menopause and the loads of family life all change how a spine carries its week. Women’s health is one of the areas I know best, so care here adapts accordingly.

Posture that emails apologised for

You catch your reflection mid-slump and straighten for a minute. Real postural change needs assessment, capacity and habit work, not reminders.

Every patient walks in with a different story, so I start by hearing yours properly: the history, the daily loads, the goals underneath the complaint. The examination then puts structure around it, and my explanation hands the understanding back to you. I want you making informed decisions about your own health with confidence, whether that decision is a course of care with me or, when the assessment says so, a visit to your GP first.

From gym floors to treatment rooms

I never planned to become a chiropractor. My working life started in fitness and massage, and somewhere between programming sessions and working on tired shoulders I found the profession that combined everything I enjoyed: helping people, understanding how bodies work, and supporting them to move and feel their best. It still feels like a natural fit years on.

The formal path ran through Macquarie University, a Bachelor of Human Science and then the Master of Chiropractic, with a Graduate Certificate in Health Service Management from UTS along the way, because good care also needs well-run care. My technique work covers Diversified, Gonstead and Activator, with special interests in SOT, upper-cervical NUCCA work and women’s health.

Castle Hill is my clinical home, and the moment that keeps me here is a familiar one: a patient realising their body is back on their side, and heading off to do something they’d shelved.

Informed patients make the best decisions

First visits follow a simple arc: listen, examine, explain. The listening covers more than symptoms, because context decides half the plan. The examination is structured and unhurried. The explanation is the part I refuse to rush, since understanding your body is what lets you steer your own health rather than ride along.

Treatment is technique-matched, Diversified or Gonstead where precision manual work suits, Activator or SOT where subtlety does, and for women’s health presentations the whole plan flexes around the stage your body is in. Reviews check us against your goals, and the plan changes when your body votes differently.

“My favourite part of any care plan is the visit where a patient stops asking me what to do and starts telling me.”

Questions patients ask

It means care that accounts for what a woman’s body is actually doing: cycle-related changes, pregnancy, postpartum recovery, menopause. Assessment and technique adapt to the stage, and anything belonging with your GP or specialist gets flagged plainly.

It can improve, though not through willpower alone. The combination that works is assessment of what’s restricting you, capacity work to hold better positions, and small environmental changes. Progress is gradual and real.

Noticeably, my patients tell me. Years of hands-on soft-tissue work built a feel for muscle and fascia that now sits underneath the chiropractic assessment and adjusting. Bodies are more than joints, and care here reflects that.

Yes, all major health insurance funds claim on the spot, so when chiropractic features in your extras the gap is your only cost.

Not required. Book directly whenever suits, bring any imaging you already have, and should a GP need to be part of your picture I’ll tell you and help organise it.
