Dr Mark Sidaros

Chiropractor · Wellbeing Chiropractic Craigieburn & Mooroolbark

I’m Dr Mark Sidaros, an AHPRA registered chiropractor at Craigieburn and Mooroolbark, and sport is the thread through everything I do, from state-level football and swimming in my school years to a FIFA Diploma in Football Medicine now. Every patient starts the same way regardless: a careful history, a full examination, and a plan we agree on together before treatment begins.

What turns up in my rooms most weeks

Rolled on Saturday, seized by Tuesday

The ankle or knee took the hit at the weekend, and by midweek your back has joined in from moving strangely around it. Sporting bodies compensate fast, and untangling that early keeps one injury from becoming two.

The Hume every morning, the desk all day

Craigieburn runs on long drives and full days. Lower backs and necks absorb that combination quietly for months, then very loudly all at once.

The exercise sheet from three injuries ago

You did the exercises, mostly. Things improved, mostly. Then progress flattened and nobody adjusted the program. Rehabilitation needs reviewing as you change, or it stops working.

Whatever brings you in, the pattern of that first visit doesn’t change. I want the story from the start, an examination that looks past the sore spot to how you move and load, and a working answer to why this happened rather than a bandage for where it hurts. The best outcomes I’ve seen in this job come from getting that first step right, then building a plan around your goals and your actual week. And when what I find belongs with a GP or another practitioner, I’ll point you there without wasting your visits.

Egypt, Perth, Melbourne, & a lot of football

I grew up in Egypt, moved to Perth, and eventually settled in Melbourne, which has been home for many years now. Sport carried me the whole way. I competed in state-level football and swimming through high school, and experiencing care from the patient’s side during those years is what pulled me toward chiropractic in the first place.

I trained at RMIT, completing a Bachelor of Health Science and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Chiropractic with Distinction. During those study years I worked as a sports trainer for five different football clubs, which is an education no lecture can give you. Since then I’ve added a FIFA Diploma in Football Medicine and training in Functional Neurology Orthopaedic Rehabilitation, and in 2023 I was named Wellbeing Chiropractic’s Chiropractor of the Year.

Some of the work I’m proudest of happens outside the clinic: medical mission trips to Cambodia, time with community aged care centres, and event coverage at things like CrossFit competitions. My consults run in English or Arabic, and the mix of patients across Craigieburn and Mooroolbark, from juniors in football boots to grandparents who want their garden back, is exactly what I hoped this job would be.

Understand it, treat it, retrain it

First visits run in that order. The understanding part is a detailed history plus an examination of movement, strength and the joints involved, because a plan aimed at the wrong cause wastes everyone’s time. The treatment part draws on Diversified adjusting, Activator work and SOT, matched to what suits your body on the day.

The retraining part is where the FNOR training earns its place. Pain that settles but was never retrained tends to circle back, so most of my care plans include specific rehabilitation you can actually fit into your week, reviewed and progressed as you improve.

“The finest part of this job is the sight of someone trust their body again.”

How I work in the treatment room

Diversified adjusting

Hands-on, specific adjusting where the examination supports it, explained before it happens.

Activator Method

Instrument-based adjusting with a light, controlled pulse, useful where lower force is the better fit.

Sacro Occipital Technique

Gentle, block-based work through the pelvis and spine for patients who need a softer approach.

FNOR rehabilitation

Functional Neurology Orthopaedic Rehabilitation: structured retraining so the fix outlasts the treatment room.

Sports chiropractic

Assessment, sideline-informed care and return-to-play planning, backed by FIFA sports medicine training.

Questions patients ask

It’s my strongest suit. Between five seasons as a club sports trainer and the FIFA Diploma in Football Medicine, I’ve handled everything from fresh sprains at the boundary line to old injuries that never rehabilitated properly. Other sports are equally welcome, the assessment logic is the same.

Yes, entirely if you prefer. Appointments here run in English or Arabic, and describing symptoms in your own tongue usually gets us to the answer faster. Bring a family member along if that helps.

Functional Neurology Orthopaedic Rehabilitation, a structured way of retraining movement after pain or injury. Day to day, it means your care doesn’t stop at the adjustment: you get targeted exercises that rebuild how you move, reviewed as you progress.

All the major health insurance funds, at both clinics. Claims settle on the spot when your extras stretch to chiropractic, and reception sorts it before you leave.

No letter needed. Book straight in, bring any scans or reports if they exist, and if the examination says a GP should be involved, arranging that becomes part of the plan.
