Christopher Ikogwe·Sonographer

I’m Christopher Ikogwe, the sonographer at Pakenham Radiology, an independently owned imaging clinic operating from Wellbeing Chiropractic Pakenham on the Princes Highway. I hold a postgraduate diploma in sonography, am accredited with the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry, and have been performing ultrasound for six years. General, pregnancy, vascular and musculoskeletal scans fill my week, most of them bulk billed, and I aim to have you scanned and reported without a long wait.

Scans we do at Pakenham

General & abdominal ultrasound

Abdominal, pelvic and other general scans requested by your GP or specialist, with the report sent back to the referrer.

Pregnancy ultrasound

Pregnancy scans through each stage, performed with time to explain what is on the screen.

Vascular & musculoskeletal

Vascular studies and musculoskeletal scans of tendons, muscles and joints. Referrals from GPs, specialists, physiotherapists, chiropractors, osteopaths and podiatrists are all accepted.

Pakenham Radiology is independently owned and locally run, set up so people in Pakenham and the Cardinia Shire do not have to travel far or wait weeks for imaging their doctor has asked for. Ultrasound is by appointment. Referrals are valid for twelve months and, unless they are addressed to a named doctor, can be used at any imaging clinic, including this one.

Six years behind the probe

An interest in healthcare led me into sonography. I completed a postgraduate diploma in sonography at the University of South Australia and have now been performing ultrasound for six years, four of them since qualifying, building experience across general, pregnancy, vascular and musculoskeletal imaging.

I am accredited with the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR) and a member of the Australasian Sonographers Association (ASA). Outside the scan room, sport is where you will find me.

Diagnostic & interactive

Ultrasound is one of the few imaging tests where you and the sonographer are in the room together for the whole scan. I explain the procedure before we start, answer questions as we go, and make sure you are comfortable before the probe touches skin.

Once the scan is finished the images are reviewed and a report goes to your referring doctor, so the next step in your care can happen without delay.

“You are in the room for the whole scan, so ask what you are looking at. I would rather explain than have you wonder.”
