Claiming your extras before the end of the year

When you visit a chiropractor with extras cover, your health fund pays a rebate towards the fee and the rest is called the gap. With Claim Your Extras, we claim your rebate on the spot through HICAPS and then we cover the gap on your first visit, so you pay nothing more on the day for that appointment.

For new patients, your first visit is an Initial Appointment (standard fee $119, see our fees).

Welcome back visit: New Episode Consultation, normally $109. No gap for eligible members.

Your rebate amount depends on your fund, your level of cover and your remaining annual limit. You need to have enough limit left for the claim to go through.

How a health fund extras chiropractor visit works

Extras cover helps pay for services that aren’t covered by Medicare, and chiropractic is included in many extras policies. Here’s what the common terms mean.

Annual limit
The most your fund will pay towards a service, or a group of services, in a year.
Rebate
The amount your fund pays towards each visit.
Gap
The difference between the fee and your rebate.
Waiting period
The time after you take out cover before you can claim for a service.
Reset date
The day your annual limits start again. Most funds reset on 31 December, and some reset on 1 July.

Most funds reset on 31 December

Your 2026 extras are part of the cover you already pay for. If chiro is on your list, most funds reset annual limits on 31 December, so a visit before then is claimed against this year’s limit. Your fund’s app or website shows your reset date and what you have left. If December doesn’t suit, you’re welcome to book in the new year.

Health funds we’re registered with

We’re registered with these health funds, so you can claim your extras rebate with us. Select a fund to learn more.

Being registered with a fund means you can claim your rebate with us. It doesn’t mean we are a preferred provider for that fund. If your fund isn’t listed, you may still be able to claim. Ask our team or check with your fund. The no gap offer applies to members of the funds listed on this page with extras cover that includes chiropractic, subject to each fund’s rules on gap payments.

What happens at your first visit

At your first visit, your chiropractor will talk with you about what’s going on, complete an assessment, and explain what they found and your options before any care starts. If you’re coming back after a while, they’ll catch up on your history first. You’re welcome to ask questions at any point.

Questions about health fund extras

Is it true health fund extras are use it or lose it?

Most extras policies have annual limits, and most funds reset those limits on 31 December, with some resetting on 1 July. Any limit you don't claim usually doesn't carry over to the next year, but rules differ between funds and policies. Your fund's app or website shows your reset date and what you have left.

When do health fund extras reset?

Most funds reset extras limits on 31 December. Some funds reset on 1 July. Check your fund's app or website, or call your fund, to confirm your reset date.

What does no gap on your first visit mean?

The gap is the difference between our fee and your fund's rebate. For eligible members of participating funds, we claim your rebate on the spot through HICAPS and then cover the gap on your first visit, so you pay nothing more on the day for that appointment. T&Cs apply.

Who can get no gap on their first visit?

New patients who have never had an appointment at any Wellbeing Chiropractic clinic, and returning patients who haven't had an appointment at any Wellbeing clinic in the last 6 months. You need extras cover with a participating fund that includes chiropractic, with waiting periods served and enough annual limit left. T&Cs apply.

Do I need to pay anything on the day?

For eligible members of participating funds, no. We claim your rebate through HICAPS and cover the gap on your first visit. Later visits are charged at our standard fees, less your rebate.

Which health funds are you registered with?

We're registered with Medibank, Bupa, nib, ahm, Australian Unity, GU Health, CBHS Corporate, Onemedifund, Westfund and Hunter Health. Being registered means you can claim your rebate with us. The no gap offer applies to participating funds only.

Does my fund cover this?

Some funds have rules about gap payments. If your fund doesn't allow us to cover the gap, we'll tell you before your appointment and you can choose whether to go ahead.

Do I need a referral?

No. You can book directly with us online or by phone.

How do I check how much extras I have left?

Your fund's app or website shows your remaining extras, your waiting periods and your reset date. You can also call your fund.

Can I claim on the spot?

Yes. We claim with HICAPS while you're here, so there's nothing to lodge later. Bring your physical or digital health fund card.

Is chiropractic covered by Medicare?

Generally, chiropractic is not covered by Medicare unless it is part of a specific care plan arranged by your GP. Claim Your Extras applies to private health fund extras cover only.

I haven't been in for a while. Can I come back?

Yes, you're welcome back any time. If you haven't had an appointment at any Wellbeing clinic in the last 6 months and you're an eligible member of a participating fund, there's no gap on your first visit back. Your chiropractor will catch up on your history first.

What if I don't have extras cover?

This offer is for members with extras cover. You can still book with us, and our team can talk you through our fees and other new patient options.

Are Sunday and public holiday appointments included?

No. Sunday, public holiday and pre-pay fees are not included in the no gap offer.
