Two degrees & a footy club
I’m a double-degree chiropractic graduate and a member of the Australian Chiropractors Association. The formal training gave me the anatomy and the clinical reasoning. What it couldn’t give me was the sight of a player limping off on a Saturday afternoon, weighing up in real time whether to push on. That came from Brandon Park Football Club, where I worked as a club trainer. Strapping ankles and managing knocks on the sideline showed me how much can turn on whether an injury is handled well in its first fortnight. It’s a big part of why sports care is still a special interest of mine. These days I split my week between our Boronia and Rosanna clinics. The patients have changed, they’re not all wearing footy boots, but the question I’m trying to answer hasn’t: what does this person want to get back to, and what’s standing in the way?
